fun run

Went to the fun run on Siesta Key this evening with the Mcmanus girls. The race wasn't too successful due to Kaiden the crank but much fun was had in the end. They each got ribbons (can anyone tell me what a BLACK ribbon means?) and splashed about in the water while us crazy mommies played paparazzi.
Dinner and desert at our favorite joint, SweetBerries, was enjoyed thouroughly! They must have been glad to see us leave but at least we sat outside so we wouldn't bother too many customers. Kids just have to be kids sometimes!

random

Random words from Kaiden today:
What makes us sniff?
Some people drink coke in hot tubs. I read that in a magazine.
I wish we all didn't have to die
God told me, if you see your fairies in the night that brings you good luck.
Just dropped the Cosby's off at the pool. (thanks Ran)
I'm going to be in movies and books when I grow up.
Gillian's my husband.
I love it when you're not so mean!

Randy's massage business is picking back up and was booked so we haven't seen to much of him today. We didn't have any grand plans anyways, just hanging out enjoying the day doing random things as usual.

We did some cleaning, lots of laundry and fresh sheets on the beds.
A small brushfire in the kitchen. A little fairy girl needed to be rescued by the Rescue Hero's and Billy Blazes saved the day - as always.
Cool, fresh swimming pool water. Hot, hot air blowing across our bodies. Kaiden says "This feels just like taking a bath in a mountain river". Yes, it does do something to the spirit and its working its magic on us today!
The Care Bears Movie. The theme song playing in our heads over, and over, and over again. "Do you know how that song makes me feel mom? Happy." I have to agree kiddo.

Random photos:
Teaching Kaiden how to use chop sticks.

Could I be any luckier to have such handsome boys in my life?

July 6

We had the genius idea of going to the grand opening of Build-A-Bear this morning thinking it would be great fun. On the way there my mom says, "I hope not too many people were excited about Build-A-Bear opening."! Wishful thinking Momma! The line was wrapping around the mall, they had employees singing songs throughout the line, handing out stickers, doing the "wave", and there was even a life sized build-a-bear posing for pictures. What an event! We should have just turned around and went home but the kids would have been so disappointed. I'm embarrassed to say it but it took us 3 hours and 15 minutes to get from the back of the line to the checkout. Who knows, maybe we made it on the news. There were at least 4 stations there! After the rough morning it was nice to sit and create with new clay Randy brought home. Pounding, smushing and mushing all that slimy stuff can be pretty relaxing!

Happy Birthday America!

Yesterday Randy and Kaiden were in the North Port 4th of July parade!
Mother Nature was trying to stop the parade with all the rain she was puring down.
But they still marched!
Of course we sat in the pouring rain cheering them on like crazy!
Kaiden was beyond proud to be in the parade (as you can see by that look on his face).

Later in the evening we went to my mom's house for some swimming, poppers, steak dinner, peanut butter pie, and sparklers. This has definately been the most memorable 4th of July yet!

G-WIZ!

Another great trip to G-wiz! This time we went with Nanny and Dah (my mom and sister).

Experimenting with the wind machine...

Battle of the brain waves...

The really BIG chair...

Kaiden posing with the Sabertooth Tiger (he didn't want to because he was "scared" that if he turned around it would bite him)...

at the races

We got a pool for the backyard and have been taking FULL advantage of it! It is soooooo nice. I can't explain how much I love it.

Randy spent yesterday out on a boat with a bunch of firefighter buddies watching the boat races. Most of the time they were hanging out by a huge sand bar in the middle of the water. People were setting up tents, chairs, and even grills! Looks to me like they had premium seating!

mom's night

It was a beautiful thing walking into the living room and seeing Kaiden on the couch surrounded by piles and piles of books and quietly reading. He looks up and says, "we're going to read ALL of these Mommy!". When we went to the library the other day we took home more books that we could carry! Most of them were about animals (Kaiden's passion) and science. We didn't have much luck with finding any faerie books but we aren't giving up the hunt. We made a pretty big dent in the pile and have some lists of science experiments we want to try soon.

Today we went to my mom's house for some more swimming to beat this rotten heat. Somehow Kaiden and Samantha suckered my mom into a sleepover at their house tonight so I'm all by myself and I'm going to make the best of it! I've got lots of sewing plans, some good chick flick, pizza, and the sound of of rain on the roof. I couldn't ask for more right now!
